Fire protection and safety

Self-extinguishing foam

Technical materials that stop burning once the flame is removed, preventing fire spread. Essential where fire safety is critical.

  • Self-extinguishes when the flame is removed
  • Droplets do not spread fire
  • Different densities and formats
  • Compliance with demanding standards
Description

What is self-extinguishing foam?

Self-extinguishing foam is polyurethane or a similar material formulated or treated to reduce flammability. It may burn in a controlled way when exposed to a flame, but self-extinguishes immediately once the ignition source is removed.

Unlike untreated foams, any resulting droplets or residues do not contribute to spreading fire.

Standards

Classifications and fire performance

Certified self-extinguishing foams are subject to international standards defining their fire performance.

These classifications vary by country or application sector, making it particularly important to choose the right foam for the project and its intended market.

Applications

Sectors where safety comes first

  • Construction and buildings (walls, ceilings and insulation)
  • Technical packaging for sensitive products
  • Automotive industry
  • Rail and transport
  • Industrial applications with fire safety requirements
  • Component protection in critical environments
Advantages

Why choose self-extinguishing foam

  • High protection against fire spread
  • Self-extinguishes once the flame is removed
  • Adaptable to many industrial applications
  • Available in different densities and formats
  • Compliance with demanding safety standards
